#1971 Exploring Art (Art, semester, grade 7)
This course places emphasis on the elements and principles of
design. Students will learn about and
create a variety of art projects utilizing the elements and principles of
art. Projects will incorporate a wide
variety of media and techniques to equip the student with skills that will
enhance their artistic endeavors and appreciation of art. Art production, aesthetics, history, and
criticism are components of the class.
Readings, quizzes, and tests from the text and other sources will be
administered as deemed applicable.
Exploring Art is a preparatory level class for all ensuing course work at the
junior high and senior high level.

#1981 Understanding Art (Art, quarter, grade 8)
Students will continue to develop and expand on the concepts that they learned in Exploring Art. This course places emphasis on the elements and principles of design. Design Basics is one of two prerequisites to additional courses in the art program. The course is designed in brief, concise units that develop the following skills:
Visual awareness to commonplace images and objects.
Make the language and reality of art come alive to students.
Discussions and art comparisons that lead to challenging creative and critical thinking skills.
Encouraging individual students to respond to visual art forms.

Fundamentals of Art is one of two prerequisites to additional courses in the art program. This course allows students to explore:
Experimental ideas for creative experience.
Ways to develop a sensitive understanding of the relationship between creative ideas and a selected art media.
Discussions and art comparisons that lead to challenging, creative and critical thinking skills.
Wide range of creative activities and visual experiences.
